While I don't have any problem with Limited Edition chips - some of my favorite chips are LEs - everyone can collect whatever they want. But this does confirm again in my mind why I collect plain old, off the table, house chips. I have never heard of someone cornering the market for a particular house chip that exists in quantities of a bzillion. When there are so many chips available you don't get the money grubbing leeches lurking around. May I suggest that newbies start with plain old house chips because you avoid such slimy tactics as have been eluded to on this board.
And another thing, while I'm going off, Jill makes an excellent point about trading at face (I think she mentions it once or twice), I shy away from trades where the price starts getting subjective. I can look at a chip and read the dollar amount on it. That's its value and that what I trade at. I trade for face always have - always will. I am thrilled that the convention is making more time for trading, while I like the dealer tables, without a place for trading I feel like a lamb being led to slaughter. I think that if we as a club don't make time for trading - face value for face value, we might as well just invite the slabbers or hoarders in because that's the only method we would be endorsing.
