So several weeks ago I received a padded envelope delievery from a chipper that owed me a chip. But when I opened the "Skillcraft" padded envelope, I found a folded letter (scanned here) advising me that while being processed, the contents became separated from the package and was re-wrapped and forwared to me.
This was done at the Atlanta Mail recovery Center. The Atlanta Post Office was NOT along the way, as the original package was mailed from Texas to Tucson.
I contacted the sender and was told that he used a padded envelope and his padded envelope was NOT the same as the Skillcraft envelope. (Anyone dealing with the Government probably recognizes that Skillcraft products are purchased by the USPS (chained pens). I believe that Skillcraft is a Native American business operation.)
Anyway, the lucky part here was that the sender wrapped the lone chip in a copy of our email thread, specifically the page where I sent my mailing address. As such, the Recovery Center knew where to send the folded-up piece of paper "found loose in the mail" and it's contents (one $5 chip in great condition).
