David - I greatly respect you and your research. I had already realized that that your article came out later, and I consider your word to be gospel. It is however very interesting to note all the history behind these chips.
I decided to keep my Osborne Castaways chips, but I am going to search out the real chips and have a collection of the authentic chips and the counterfeits.
I do prefer using the term "counterfeit" as you have argued for, because I feel that even though Osborne may or may not have had nefarious intentions, subsequent chip dealers did sell these as real, even though they knew they were fake. This practice continues on a large scale, even today. But thanks to you, I can now tell the difference. THANK YOU DAVID!! - Martin
