When I scan ads from the yellow pages of old phone books, I put a black paper behind the page I'm scanning. It makes the whole scan a touch darker, but prevents the shadow of the printing/pictures on the other side of the page from showing through.

I think your picture looks good, but you might try out a dark background...just to see what it looks like...??
