questions would be on the club board, I will answer your question with my own opinion here.

For the past few years the room block has been sold out and it will surely be again this year with all the events in that timeframe.

In my personal opinion, by allowing someone who is not intending on attending the convention to use the room block, it will take away those available rooms from people who are actually attending our event.

In fact it may even deter people from coming to the convention at all if they find out the room block has been filled and the only available rates are much higher.

If it were up to me I would say its wrong to allow people not planning on attending to use the club rate. If the room block was unlimited there would be no problem. However there is a limit on the rooms we get and those rooms should go to convention attendees.

Once again this is just my opinion and not an official stance which can be discussed by the entire BOD if you like.
