Just got back from Saturday at the Chinook Winds Chip and Casino Memorabilia Show. First time at one of these functions and first time to meet some of our compatriots. There were about 9 dealers there as well as the club booth. Won't be able to name off everyone who was dealing due to complete social dweebism on my part as well the ability to forget everyone's name. I did get my autographed copy of Steve Goodrich's book from Steve and met Mel Jung. Don Lueders was there (doesn't he have every chip already?) but I never met up with him.
No slabs, I'm happy to report!
The hobby owes a "hat's off" to Jim Fredrickson (cardroomboss) there at Chinook Winds. I understand he ramrodded this event. I know I had a fine time. Even a show chip. During the poker tournament he kept giving us stuff. Hope they don't throw a net over him at the casino! He said he'd like to do something next year too.
Played in the poker tournament, was fun and there were some fine poker players there at the end. Fire Fightin' Steve Goodrich extinguished some players and "Doc" Dubert surgically removed others on his way to winning. Steve and the Doc went head to head at the end with the betting structure up around one billion/two billion or so. They tusseled back and forth before the local overcame the Moscow historian. Dubert got $250, some chip loot, and a keen trophy of Chinook Winds chips in a display of LE's and roulettes. 2nd came in at $215 and down through $165, $125, and $75 for 5th. The tourney chips were unharvestable generic H&C's with that hotstamped snowflake pattern. Dissappointed Mel took the opportunity to quote Jim a price for his next reorder though. More later maybe, off to bed.
