A while back I picked up some chips with a GC monogram on them, our resident "Illegal Of The Day" (specialist) was able to dig up some info on the order.
The order card came back to:
N. M. Cheek
Rt 7, Burlington, NC
1960
100 yellow, 200 white, 500 green
After speaking with the Grandson, also named "Nathan Cheek", I found out that the CG stood for "Green Club", he remembered
that as a kid, he played with dice that had "Green Club" on them. He referred to his Grandfather as a pool player and hustler, but had no idea where the games took place. I'm guessing that this was not an actual club, more likely, a "game" in the back room of a pool hall or possibly private game at a house.
I have the set of three GC chips for $20 shipped if anyone wants a set.
