Howard Herz stopped me at the convention a couple years ago and thanked me for bringing this variation to his attention. He gave it a name, different than the LCV name that I use, which was originally suggested by Pete Porro.
I don't think that Paulson makes one or the other deliberately, but I am pretty sure that it doesn't have to be a reorder to get both types. I think that sometimes the same order made on 2 different machines ends up having both varieties.
In my mind it is just as much a variety as a H&C vs a House mold would be. Just because they look very much alike shouldn't make it any less a variety. They are distinct and seperate and neither set of dies will make the other mold.
