I met Tom back in the mid 1990s right after I started collecting chips. He and I both graduated from the University of Delaware (I graduated in 1968 and I believe Tom graduated about 15 years later) and we became friends over the years. Tom had been on dyalisis for many years. He was originally from New Jersey and had lived for many years outside of Washington DC before retiring to Florida. I last saw Tom about 3 years ago when I visited him at his home in Osprey, FL. We would occasionally talk on the phone and ironically I just thought about calling him this past week but I did not get around to it.
Tom was an avid chip collector and probably has the best collection in the country of Maryland casino chips from the old charity casinios that operated there in the 1980s. In addition to chips, Tom also collected coins and US paper money. He was never married but he had nieces and nephews that he often talked about.
Tom was a very gentle person with a dry sense of humor and he was very passionate about his various collections.
I always enjoyed the time I spent with Tom and he will be missed.
Rest in Peace my friend.
Take care,
Jerry
