John, I mentioned nothing about moving the convention off strip. Many factors need to be considered in choosing a site including convenience to both attendees and dealers. This includes cost, availability of sleeping rooms and price, dealer space, casino hidden charges - such as a per cent of dealer profits, marketing staff cooperation, and a whole bunch of other factors. I do however disagree with your idea that it be put to a vote of the membership only because of the time delays. Not all members are active on the BB, not all attend the convention, and a club magazine ballot would bite into valuable planning time. Once a chairman is choosen we need to have faith in that person, his (her) committee and the board to make decisions such as location. I know Wayne received a lot of flack for moving the convention back to the Trop but he acted in the best interest of the club and its members. I'm confident the next chairman will do the same. And to all the people who want to criticize - stand up and volunteer to take the chair or become a major participant in the committee that runs the show.
