So far there is only direct damage. When inspection of properties by building depts. begins the cost will rise.
Add that the storm hit very high property value areas and it will rise again.
Re-building costs will definately be high! Especially, New York & New Jersey!
Additionally, infrastructure costs are not in yet. What do you think the cost for refurbishing the subways
and stations will be to the taxpayer?Railroads, etc.

We are also seeing the union attitudes and when you see it took this long to rebuild the WTC
the $20B will rise. BTW I have seen estimates of $33 to 50B.

Oh and by the way most of the properties probably had low cost government insurance so the
taxpayer is probably on the hook for most of the rebuilding costs or insurance reimbursements.

This could become a real game changer depending on how government handles it.

It should worry the entire country?
