~~~ in trying to decide just leaving the tape residue there or trying to remove it; not knowing if the residue would eventually break down the pigment in the engraving or even worse -- change the shade of red.
I was told to use a few different products on this board, but when I mentioned my concern regarding the pigment, nobody knew how the suggested product(s) would react with the pigment.
I then decided to try some nail polish remover on about a 1/8" section of the residue and far enough away from the red pigment... and that seemed to work out fine... so I then carefully applied the nail polish remover to the balance of residue gently working it out and away from the pigment... and then I noticed the residue lifting on its own in the engraved portion w/o applying any of the remover. I guess it was the fumes that did it.
The piece (from Spain) was part of a CARO-Paris display... It could have been worse I guess; such as a heavy hot glue.
