If I wanted to show 2 separate scans of the orange chip below side by side in the middle of a line I would write (replace braces with brackets):

{center}{pic}http://www.chipguide.com/tcbuploads/RE.jpg{/pic}{pic}http://www.chipguide.com/tcbuploads/RE.jpg{/pic}{/center}

Try replacing the braces "{ }" with brackets "[ ]"
and you'll see it works.
