Re: NCR - iPhone Question - Pretty Basic

Alex,

You may want to do what I have done. I am in a similar situation where I seldom need my cell phone. I use a pay as you go phone and my cell phone runs about $9 a month because it's just a phone.

I bought an iPod which is an iPhone without the phone. It has great free WiFi reception and can run any app that works on the iPhone. There is no monthly charge because there is no phone. When I travel and want WiFi with me I use a portable WiFi hotspot that I simply buy service for a month for a small fee. The secure WiFi hotspot can work multiple devices like my iPod and laptop at a hotel. Much cheaper and more reliable than paying for WiFi at the hotels. The hotspot is so small I stick it in my pocket. It's password protected so other people can't log on.

You can get the WiFi hotspot I use through Virgin. It uses Sprint and I've never had a connection problem. You only buy what you need.

Places like Best Buy also have them. It's referred to as "Broadband to Go"
