I once got a MOP plaque in the mail from a family member of someone who ran a French casino in the early-1900s and when I signed for the packet I was happey to see what looked like an excellent packing job, but when I opened it I noticed there was tape right across the face of the piece -- right over the monogram. I asked around as to how I could remove the tape w/o lifting the pigment in the engraving and one suggestion (which sounded pretty good) was to wrap the piece in plastic and place it in the freezer for about 15-minutes and after removing it try to gently lift the tape... It worked; why and how I do not know, but I'm happy it did.
