Looks like we were collecting back at the same time, Jim. Don't know if you noticed but back then the sheets of 3 cent and 4 cent stamps could also be bought for less than face value. Of course with inflation they're worth even less today. Problem is too many of us were collecting. And part of it is the "Fun" of having covers show up periodically in the mail. I think it's the same way with chip LEs. It's fun to have a package with a new chip show up in your mail box. You get less "fun" bang for you buck buying someone's collection all at once.That's why I believe few LE collectors will ever get back what they've spent on their chips if they've paid anything over face.
