In another life I used to collect postage stamps. A similar situation happened when countries started issuing stamps solely for collectors rather than for postage. Small countries discovered if they put out stamps with the right subjects collectors all over the world would buy them. Still goes on today. You've probably seen ads for new stamps with Elvis, Marilyn Monroe or whatever from some odd place. The U.S. Postal Service has jumped on the bandwagon as well and issues way more stamps than they did years ago because of collectors. Some said it would kill the hobby of stamp collecting. It didn't kill that hobby and LEs won't kill chip collecting.
