THE CHIPBOARD FANTASY FOOTBALL
Hi all, well it’s that time of the year. The first NFL game will be Sept 5th. I am going to organize a fantasy football league run on yahoo sports. I have successfully run a live league for the last 10 years. I am going to open up the registration this Friday afternoon but in the mean time I am posting this message to outline the rules. If there is anything that you feel should be changed then please post a message or email me and we can have a discussion about it. I am posting basic rules and about the league in the top part of this text and below there are the complete details. Remember these are not the official rules until they are posted in the sign up post.
This league will be a head to head league which means each week you will compete against another player. Whoever scores the most points wins for the week. At the end of the regular season we will have playoffs. The top half of the field will make the playoffs and the bottom half of the field will make the consolation playoffs.
We have a few possible draft dates set up right now. The weekend before the season starts is Labor Day weekend and there are quite a few people that would be unavailable. In lieu of this we can hold the draft on Tuesday Sept. 4th or the weekend before Labor Day. If we hold the draft the weekend before Labor Day we could do it Sunday Aug. 26th in the evening.
The draft will be a standard draft and not an auction style draft. We will be set up into divisions depending on how many teams we have in the league. We need a min of 8 teams to make this league a go and max of 12 teams. If we have more than 20 people who are interested I am willing to run 2 leagues. I am running a live league so 3 will be my max. 2 on here and 1 live. If we have 20 people interested the first one will have 12 and the second one will have 8. You will be placed in the league based on when you sign up. If there was any interest in having a much higher buy in, we could do that as well for the second one. (30 $5 chips instead of $1 chips)
There will be an option for trades and also free agent pickups. There will be a fee of $1 for all transactions per person. If you make a trade with someone each player will be charged a $1 fee. For example if you trade 2 players for 2 players each owner will have to pay $1. You are able to make it part of your trade that one of the owners will pick up the entire fee. If this happens I will need an email or a text from both owners.
Complete Rules:
The entrance fee for The Chip Board fantasy football league is $30. You can make this buy in with $30 cash or 30 $1 chips. The chips must be casino chips and not personals or fantasy chips. The league will be run by yahoo sports online. We will have an online draft with the date to be determined. I, Jason Barbiaux, will be acting as commissioner in this league.
The buy in must be made at least one week in advance of the draft. You can either send me the entire buy in up front or you can send me half now and half by week 8. There is a maximum of 2 like chips permitted per person. If you send me 15 $1 chips now and 15 on week 8 you still can only send a total of 2 like chips. Please do not send me 2 like chips in your first batch and the same 2 in the second batch.
Sign ups will occur in a thread that will start at the end of this week or by email.
League Structure, Rules and Prizes
The Chip Board league will be comprised of up to 12 teams and a min of 8 teams.
There are two parts of the season:
• Part 1 - Regular season Weeks 1-14
• Part 2 - League Playoffs Weeks 15-17 (depending on how many teams)
the regular season will run from NFL Week 1 through NFL Week 14. If we have 10-12 teams, then there will be 6 teams that will make the playoffs for NFL week 15 through NFL week 17. The remaining teams will play in a consolation playoff during the same time frame. If we have 8 teams then the there will be 4 who make the playoffs and 4 who make the consolation playoffs. We will have 3 divisions with 4 teams in each division. The winner of each division will make the Playoffs and the next 3 with the best record will make the playoffs as the wild card.
The draft will be held online at http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com. The date of the draft is TBD. If you are unable to make the online draft you have the option to have your team drafted automatically by the order of players you choose. The drafts will last for 20 rounds, with each team selecting one player per round. Drafts will be held in a serpentine format: Team 1 through Team 12 in Round 1, Team 12 through Team 1 in Round 2, Team 1 through Team 12 in Round 3, etc. Teams may select any player that is not already drafted by another team. There are no limits or requirements as to the number of players drafted at each position. Each team participant/manager will have one minute (60 seconds) to make a player selection in each round.
There is no trading of draft picks allowed in this league but you are able to trade players. All trades will be reviewed by the commissioner and can be vetoed if the trade is deemed not a fair trade. Upon all trades an email will go out to all players in the league making them aware of the trade. At that time any player will have 48 hours to send me a request to veto the trade. Upon me receiving an email or text I will notify both parties of the trade that the trade is being looked into further. At this point either one of the people making the trade can send me supporting information why this trade is in the best interest of both teams. I will not accept any veto requests based on you feeling this is going to make a team better than yours so it’s not fair. All trades will cost $1 (chip or cash) per player being moved. You can have it is part of the trade that one player will cover the cost of the trade. The trading deadline is November 16th, 2012.
Waivers/free agents: The waiver period is Sunday 10pm through Tuesday 11:59pm PT. All unowned players will be on the waiver list and all owners have until Tuesday 11:59pm PT to make a claim for the player. If multiple people make a claim for a player the order will be worse record to best. Once you pick up 1 player in a week you will be moved to the back of the priority list.

The official prizes can not be determined until we know how many owners we will have. Here is a breakdown of who will get money/chips. Any money that is collected instead of chips will go to the winner of championship game.
