For both examples, I have three chips: one in the collection, and two in inventory. These are the only two examples of ceramic chips I have where I possess more than one. In other words, I did not have to search long to find these variations. I have a few other ceramic chips with edge print, but they have identical A and B sides, so I don't think they prove anything.

I am not sure whether the manufacturing technique for $1 chips differs from these 50 cent and $5 chips, but others may be able to offer guidance if there is genuine interest in this.
