On my way home from the convention, we stopped at Riverside to play poker. While checking with my pal in the cage about any odd chips, he said this kid cashed in a bunch of older Riverside chips and he thought they were still in the cage area. Below are two of the early chips -- one 25-center orange chip was used on the crap table to pay odds in the late 50s. Notice, it's off center and is pretty good condition. The $1 is from the same issue and is in like new condition. Included in the haul was the first house $5 in SU condition, two grey snappers never used and a new 40th commemorative $5 chip. Also, four 30th anniversary gold-colored tokens that feature old automobiles on the face. Anyway, I bought them at face value, but did give a nice tip. My thinking is that these belonged to someone's collection that this young guy either inherited or came into his possession by "other" means. Also, got a Super Bowl XXX River chip -- brand new. That's the year the Dallas Cowboys beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in the big game played in neighboring Arizona's Phoenix stadium. Any thoughts on the chips?
