It's amazing how much pets are really as much a part of the family as anybody. She's my little fur baby. Since I got home, she has been staring down a Rocky Raccoon that Daisy is convinced is trying to come into our yard. She sees her late at night and pulls out her serious "I'm gonna kick yer ass!" bark and her mohawk on her neck stands straight up. And if anybody in the house tries to come outside, she comes running over to us in her guarding stance and starts her "Don't mess with US" growl.
We don't worry about anybody breaking into our house. Everybody in the neighborhood knows our house as the house Daisy lives in. And those that don't who walk by the house after 11pm she starts barking and growling loudy enough and nasty enough to convince said person that a pit bull lives inside our house! So I think we're in good hands!
But last night was especially humorous. She laid down. Farted. Started to snore, then starting woofing it up in her sleep! Then woke up and starting growling and woofing because she was convinced she heard something that was most likely in her dream. All this taking place at 1am mind you! Then she let out one of the loudest barks I've ever heard! It was so loud I'm pretty sure everybody the next block over jumped up out of bed! It took a couple minutes of scritching her to settle her down. Then I decided to bribe her and work on her ADD. I got a treat out. Suddenly, my dog is sitting in place, trying to give me a high five.
She makes me laugh every day. Couldn't be happier that my friend picked out a winner for us as a Christmas present.
