thanks for the post. I have two qualms about the story:
(1) funny how they blame the bank, just like with the sub-prime mortgage crisis/scandal -- they blame the banks for letting people borrow so much when they had their own lawyers and selves to blame, and the gov't encouraged the banks to make the risky loans!
(2) in this case, it raises an issue I always wondered about. People steal millions and spend a relatively little time in jail. It is actually worth it to them! What poor person wouldn't want to steal millions, give much of it surreptitiously to a trusted friend and spend 15 months in jail (time off too for good behavior)?
