Looks pretty good, Fred.

One other technique I use with Photoshop is to apply an Unsharp Mask automatically whenever I scan. Here's an example on your chip with 50% Amount and a radius of 1 pixel. If you overdo this, it can look artificial, but I like about this amount on my chip scans.

Here's an example on your scan. The one on top has the unsharp mask applied. Bottom is your original. Nothing else was changed.

It's a matter of preference. I think it gives a better view of what the chip looks like as viewed directly.

I scan at 266, some scan at 300
Fred, as general rule, I always scan at 300 dpi...
