First off...Your Honest John's article was GREAT!!! I had no idea that they had so many locations...I only knew about the Strip location across from the Sahara, and downtown where the Lady Luck is.
After reading your article, I started searching phone books to see if I could find dates or ads for the other locations...here's what I found...
1962 white pages...with an added location, or two!
I remembered hearing that Honest John's started as a newsstand, so I checked various headings in the yellow pages. Found an ad under Liquor Dealers, and listings under Barber Shops, Cocktail Lounges, and News Dealers.
I assume that this ad is a little older than the one you pictured, because it is using the DUdley and REgent phone exchanges...

Not quite as many locations in the 1966 white pages...
The yellow pages had a listing under Liquor, and one under News Dealers

In 1969 we were down to one location for Honest John's...here's the ad from the yellow pages

This ad is from the 1973 phone book. The January, 1978, phone book had the same ad. The phone book from July of 1978 no longer had Honest John's listed.

You mentioned a website showing that Honest John's reopened at 2444 Las Vegas Blvd. South...well, in October of 2001, I took these pictures ! I didn't get to go inside , my husband pulled into the parking lot for me to take the pictures, but wasn't quite patient enough for me to go in and look around. However, he stuck his nose in while I was taking the pictures, and to the best of my recollection, he said it was a dive with a few slot & poker machines. I have a note on the back of the picture that says it reopened in 2001 (I assume that means it wasn't there when we were there in 2000! )

O.K...apparently at some time I did realize there was an Honest John's located on East Sahara at Sherwood, because we have a paper "token" good for 5 lucky jackpot nickels...
Here's a 'funbook' from the 2444 Las Vegas Blvd. location. The bottom coupon is for .25 "casino cash" "to play with your .25 at our table games. Plays as cash"
