I don't know if all gaming jurisdictions are the same regarding redemption notices should an inventory become obsolete... and there just might be some jurisdictions that are not required to post notice.
I know that when the Club Royale was lost at sea the casino did not buy any chips back... but they did inform those who wanted to redeem that there was a collector in town who would pay twice face for any denomination (me ). Nobody (players) had a $500, but when I got a call from Gene Grossblatt who was going stir-crazy while confined to his bed at home after a complex medical procedure, I informed him that I had a mission for him if he was up to it. I explained that I spoke with the owner of the company who handled the Club Royale chips and in conversation I learned that there was one example on file of the $500 chip... I told Gene he could go after it if he wished and in jig time he called me from his bed saying it was in his hand. I placed the chip a few days later...
It's so nice to brag when one is wonderful...
