That sucks they turned us down. You would think some advertising in the cafe would be self serving as people might hang around the SP longer or even come back for the free day on Saturday. I am guessing they welcome the room key advertising as it costs them nothing, since they are getting "free" keys from the club. I do know they did put it on the big marquee last year and it looked good. How often it ran I have no idea.
They do assign one person from the SP to help the club chair along with advertising and getting out the word internally? I guess what I saw on TV was mostly bull dung, no other way to say it.
I hope they know that club members gamble early and often and dine in their finest places. You look all over and see club members at the tables, on slot machines, and in the poker room. I play where I stay 98% of the time these days.
I do not doubt the chairs have tried about everything that can be imagined. I am just trying to help a bit with a new idea.
Does anyone get feedback from the SP person who is assigned to our convention on how happy they are with our turnout and spending etc.?
I did try once to book a place for a bridge convention and it's darn difficult to get a decent room price and enough room and tables/chairs etc. The prices were outrageous for the most part. Contracts have to be signed and usually some guarantees.
I tip my hat to the person who got us this multi-year contract at the SP. It was very lucrative for us indeed. Also the chairs for spending countless hours on making the convention a big success. I will thank you all now in advance as when I am at the convention the time seems to go so fast.
