Let me comment as a new member and a poker player. Also, I will be out in LV in June to play in some WSOP events and arranged my schedule as to arrive on the AM of the 23rd so I can spend at least an afternoon at the convention. As far as demographics - I am in my early 50's, so not the younger group that some are looking to attract, but based on what I know, probably on the younger side of the average for the group.
Anyway - I do not think that poker players that are in town to play in $1,500+ entry events would have any interest in a small freeroll at South Point. I do agree though that the WSOP crowd would be a good place to introduce the hobby. I know that there are various vendors that have booths/tables at the RIO, perhaps the club could set one up during the convention time? OR - perhaps in a future year, the convention could actually be held at the RIO, which would give maximum exposure. There are also a number of Poker Magazines - an ad could be placed at the appropriate time to invite/alert players to the convention show. Also - someone could hand out leaflets or flyers at the RIO for a couple of hours each day outside the WSOP entrance.
As to other ways to reach out to new prospective members - it seems that ebay is the marketplace of chips - so that is where new members will be found. Perhaps there should be a marketing piece that all club members who are sellers on ebay enclose with their shipments? This would introduce TCB and the club to many new people. The same simple marketing piece could be used by TCB sellers when they ship to non-members. It could be a business card sized promo with the logo and something like "For all the chip information you could ever want visit www...." etc.
