Not really, when one considers how many times that $1 chip was played over and over again and the casino's edge made a profit for the house before the chip was taken out of play and replaced with another one in the next fill. The chip is like a tool. A business needs to provide tools in order to make money. When tools disappear, are misplaced, wear out, or break, they are replaced with another tool as a cost of doing business.
