While I hate to admit it, perhaps the only solution for national is as you stated, to abolish all chapters. I guess the problem I have with that is that I don't want my club to lose it's status as a national chapter. I'm proud of my local club and I am proud of what national has done for the hobby.
I will keep my own membership in national as well as my local club regardless of what happens with the amendment. But, I collect nationaly. I suspect most people would also keep both memberships. I wonder though if over time national membership would drop because members did not get updates from their area of interest in the national magazine? The fallout from dropping local clubs could cascade. Even a Nevada collector who also collects Atlantic City would have a hard time justifying national if they couldn't get AC news from the national club.
We both want the same thing, a bigger and better club. I wish this amendment was in place when the local chapters formed, we wouldn't have this issue now.
Has anybody considered an 80% rule?
