Hi Frank...I shoot the S90 but the S95 is the same camera with a few more tweeks and yes I know them both inside out.
I always shoot JPG, never RAW, never shot RAW in my life
you can shoot NORMAL, Large JPG instead of FINE and the files are half the size and believe me you wont see any difference.

I shoot in NORMAL LARGE JPG, shown with an L and a stair-step icon.

To correct this:

Tap FUNC SET.

Click down to L.

Tap DISP.

Click left or right to get Normal (the stair-step icon) instead of Fine (the quarter-circle icon).

Tap FUNC SET to return to shooting

I have lots of tweeks to get the images to look wonderful...in that camera like mine you have amber tweeks to get wamer tones, etc for landscapes, etc
you shoot VIVID for anything other than people right?
and you always set custom WB right?
