As John noted, the scan you show

is quite a bit larger than the actual chip. Another thing to consider is that the scanning process creates shadows where there doesn't appear to be any when looking at the chip in regular light. Scanning doesn't magnify the imperfections. but the shadows do bring out even the slightest ones. An example is how the scanning process really brings out the cross-hatching in the chip shown below because of the reflection of light. grin

And like John also said, I'd rather see them now BEFORE purchase rather than afterwards.
