I went to Southend this evening for a poker evening, which in itself was great fun with some great guys, but I took the opportunity to visit the 2 local casinos.

Before our game, I went to the Rendezvous as we had a voucher for £10 free play, or to be fair Jackie, my wife did - not sure why I didn't get sent any vouchers, but never mind! Anyway, we went to the cash desk and instead of the usual £5 chips we got 2 card room chips which I hadn't seen before, so a great new addition for the collection. Also picked up a couple of £1 chips as traders in case anyone needed one.

As we drove to the poker game, we passed the Mint & Maxims casinos (both in the same site, and where the old Westcliff casino used to be), and noticed that the 'Gentings' name (the owners of Stanley casinos, with the names being changed to Gentings in a phased programme) was now in lights over the casino. We both won a few ££ in our poker game, so thought we would have a look after the game, and not only have they changed players cards this week, but also introduced the new Gentings branded chips.

The black card on the left is the new one, the one on the right was the previous card.

Overall a great evening with friends, and several new chips and cards.
