I bought a chip on the cheap. I only paid a few dollars for it and am willing to take the risk of cleaning it. I don't feel that I need to be gentle since the hotstamp is already missing and I paid very little.

Does anyone have any suggestions that might get this clean? I'm not sure exactly what it is although I suspect that it was taped to something for a very long time.
