Two memorable places in Las Vegas are Lawry's Prime Rib and Michael's -- pretty expensive, but nice special-occasion dinner places.
Lawry's in Las Vegas is an off-shoot of the original location in Los Angeles, where they serve both of the Rose Bowl football teams each year in the "Beef Bowl". Great prime rib & side dishes with old-fashioned top service. Located in a stand-alone restaurant near Flamingo Road, just off the strip. Nice place to get away from the casino ambiance for a nice meal. You will need reservations.
Michael's is located inside South Point, so no commuting at all for this one. Named after the owner, Michael Gaughan. Originally located at the Barbary Coast, when he owned it, then he brought the restaurant to South Point when he bought it. For a feel of the "old Vegas" gourmet room, this one is a great experience. In contrast to all the new-cuisine / celebrity chef restaurants around town (which I like too), Michael's is an experience that's hard to find anymore in Las Vegas. Food is excellent, but it's rather expensive. But worth it, for a special occasion.
Both places have websites to check them out further if you're interested.
Tip: skip lunch and go hungry to either place. Portions are ample.
