The Chip Board's readers are more vigilant about identity and sales pitches than any other group in which I participate. Some will refuse to answer questions posted by people who use pseudonyms, while others attempt to confirm the identities of eBay sellers and the identities of people who send unsolicited e-mails.

My advice to newbies was intended to warn those new participants to understand the cautious nature of this Board and to go slow.
