Hi Marv ----- been meaning to get in touch with you ---- nice to see you here more often. I finally gave up on CS when it got to the point that I couldn't stay on for more than about 45 seconds before it kicked me off. Could not figure out why, nor could they offer any help/suggestions. Once I found this board, I realized that Greg has the equivalent of the talking Barbie Heads that we used to envy on CS.
As for the eBay final fee, I have actually seen one or two sellers who require the buyers to pay it. Don't know how successful they are, though! Legally, I don't see any problem with it as long as it is stated clearly in the lot description and the basis of calculating the fee is provided. Wouldn't be any different than the buyer's premium or fee which is often charged in other auctions (such as the big ones at Sotheby's and Christy's -- or, for that matter, the CC>CC convention auction!).
I don't know if eBay has any internal rules regarding the passing on of this fee to the buyer. Presumably, they could prohibit it as part of their rules. It's not clear to me whether someone at eBay actually reads every lot description or whether they only respond to complaints (which they don't do very well, in my opinion).
Hope this helps!! ----- jim o\-S
