I have to agree with Don's comment. I too have an iPad but have little experience with any other tablet.
All I can say is that iPads are built like precision instruments and are virtually indestructible (with protective cover of some kind) from common accidents.

You will not go wrong with an iPad - they are a marvel of hardware and software. Yes, they cost a little more, but a refurbished iPad with a guarantee at 40% off is the way to go.

You should Google "iPad vs Kindle" and read some comments.
A Kindle is not an iPad!
