I know Florida isn't your forte, but thought I'd share the details of what I've been reading about the Hollywood club. From Kenneth Dickson's "Nothing Personal, It's just Business" 2003, pg 44.
"Gambling in greater Toledo area was controlled by Jimmy Hayes. Hayes was an ex-cab driver from Cleveland, who came up the hard way. Jimmy owned and operated an exclusive gambling house on the Dixie Highway for the rich and powerful, called the Villa. Nestled just inside the Michaigan line, the Villa was convenient to gamblers from both Toledo and detroit, and it is where Firetop introduced Toledo to Licavoli. Hayes also operated an exclusive gambling resort for the vacationing affluent called the Club Ramona, near Harbor Springs, or Potoskey, Michaigan. Hayes also owned the Hollywood Club near the Florida Keys for those vacationing during the winter months. Hayes was extrememly well connected to the money and power structure of Toledo, and was not going to let an upstart like Licavoli operate. Jimmy Hayes didn't care about Licavoli running another boot-joint, what he cared about was Yonnie cutting in on gambling profits. "
I've been trying to research the Hollywood Club, to mainly find out who owned it, ran it and the years of operation.
