Some quotes I obtained for a color publication of 100 pages........

Setup cost $1,800
100 copies (minimum qty) - $1,500
101-300 copies - $11 per
301-500 copies - $8 per
501-1000 copies - $5 per
1000+ copies - $3 per

So total cost for 1001 copies is $4,803
Total cost for 300 copies is $5,103

Reasons - for a proper full color publication, it is not cost efficient to print less than a certain quantity as it becomes more labor intensive and less automated. Unless you want to pay an arm and a leg as above, most printers would only do below 1,000 copies on regular laser printers at a lower quality. The more publications that appear on-line, the worse this situation will get.
