A magnet will not stick to pewter, silver, gold, brass, zinc die cast and many other metals as well. Not sticking just means it isn't iron.
When people bring me metal to refinish I tell them when I put a magnet to it, just because it doesn't stick does not means it brass/bronze. Just means it's not iron. Then I do further tests.
