Holiday Casino Cruises $100 'token', Thanks Bob H.

I received from Bob Heistand a selection of the $100 Holiday Casino Cruises chockens. Thanks Bob, I love 'em!!

While Bob's description was in error, these are not clay chips with a metal ring around them, they are very collectible as a failed slot machine token replacement effort by CHIPCO International.

These tokens were offered by CHIPCO, under their "Pro-Tech II" product line and where offered as a direct replacement of heavy, all-metal slot machine tokens. The Pro-Tech II tokens are made from a single, machined (perhaps stamped) metal slug that is recessed on both sides for a heavy-duty, vinyl disk (insert) to be sonically welded in-place on both sides of the slug.

Looking at this scan (from Bob) you can see several weld spots (half-moon shapes) under the "R" and "S" of "Paradise", as well as to the left of the letter "P". There is also another, very pronounced one, above the "CA" of "Casino" at the top of the token.

We have seen these Pro-Tech II slot machine tokens elsewhere, like this advertising/sample example :

This Longstreet Inn, Amargosa Valley, NV and Riverside, Laughlin, NV examples:

But what is new to me, in a world of $1 and a few $5 Pro-Tech II slot machine tokens, this is a fairlly hi-denomination token!

Thanks again Bob!!

Jim

ps. Pro-Tech II tokens were designed to replace the original Pro-Tech token design, which were plastic coated, metal slug tokens, likes these:

I believe these failed because as they went through a slot machine, the plastic coating would chip and fleck -off, which resulted in a lot of jamming. Also, in order to convert a slot machine to this type of token, a casino needed to order a new "acceptor" for each machine. They look great and I like them in my collection!
