Yesterday I received 2 bubble #000 with postage due. The question is....is the package considered a flat or a parcel. I have argued at my post office and it is a losing battle. A flat is defined 1/4" to 3/4" so my argument is the chip or two I have in the bag do NOT measure over 3/4" thick.
They tell me if any part of my bag is rigid it is considered a parcel and not a flat. I been over this with them so much I don't argue anymore. I just pay the postage due for all of you who send out a bubble mailer with regular 1st class FLAT rate and NOT 1st class PARCEL rate.
It seems it varies by post office which is a darn shame since they can not even agree on a basic charge as this is. And you wonder why their broke and you have to wonder how much waste they still have. I live in a SMALL town and we have a BOTH a FULL TIME Postmaster and ASST. Postmaster neither of who can work the window since that is a union job. What a joke. So we basically have 3 full timers who work the window and back and 2 people who sit on their ass and do not much but cut open media mail to make sure it is qualified printed matter or books.
Lord help us when they take over the hospitals in 2-4 years, and they will.
