We were there on a cruise a few years ago and the biggest thing is that there are a lot of rather tacky areas away from Old San Juan area. And it cost about $20-25 for a cab ride to the beach/ casino area by Stellaris. I took a cab and walked to about five different casinos and most of them looked pretty nice.
