I have been using Epson since the beginning of my chip life - never this kind of problem.
Save your work and "defrag" your specific hard drive, even if your computer tells you "no need to defrag" just do it. Most likely you have a cross-linked files.
If after defrag you still have a problem - you uninstalled your Epson files and then follow the procedure as if you just got a new Epson to install, in the order - no short cut. It should work.
Usually after "dedrag" it works for me.
I used the uninstall only in the worst case - does not recognize or missing etc., etc, work for me also.
Do the above suggestions if you have not installed any softwares, if you did most likely the software caused a conflict or cross file(s).
