When I get 50 new LEs, I look for the "best" one for my collection. I can usually find some detraction on every one. The inlay not exactly centered on one side or both, a little scratch here or there, the rotation of the inserts not as pleasing to the eye on one vs another. It's all very highly subjective.
The point is, NOT ONE of the people who buy these chips from me has EVER offered to pay more if I'd hand select them a "better" chip. No one has ever even expressed the slightest interest in these details of condition, other than to want an uncirculated chip with no edge nicks.
Who cares if they can get the same numbers back on the same chips? I agree they probably can't, but so what? It's just not a criteria with today's collectors.
