~~~ the biggest problem I see here is the interest in the chips by collectors and the lack of interest in the gaming industry... For every fake/counterfeit issue made (there's a big difference between the two) there will be another following (as noted in the lead post) and another after that... Yes, we're able to inform chip collectors thru our magazine and website; and we've done an excellent job in doing so, but it stops there.... These chips will continue to be made and collectors will continue to buy them. History tells us that some counterfeit chips are worth much more than the original chip because of demand; though I doubt history will repeat itself with these recent creations unless they were rounded up and destroyed, but hardly a chance of that happening...
I have not read all the posts in this thread, so I don't know if there are sid-by-side exhibits of the 'counterfeit' and original issue in order to compare one with the other. Usually, a person who makes a copy of an original knows exactly how far to go in doing so before it's considered a "counterfeit" item.
