They had so few collectors to ask in those days as to what was actually used in the early-1860s. Besides, so few movie-goers knew, anyway (so who'd catch it back then...!)... but CG did know of one 'actor' in the day who did actually collect gambling chips... and it's a pitty he didn't care enough to ask.... (Time tells all...).
