It was parked just north of the D concourse while I was at McCarran yesterday. That was the first time I'd seen the 747 version of Air Force 1 in person. His landing stacked a bunch of incoming flights into holding patterns, and I would assume delayed all take offs for quite a few too. The delay for the inbound plane that was to be my flight home was about 40 minutes.
I knew they block traffic for Presidential motorcades, but I didn't know that the arrival of Air Force 1 disrupts all airplane traffic at large airports. Makes me wonder how much Jet A is burned up by the commercial flights forced to stay away from airports until the big plane lands and is out of the way. It's got to be 1000's of gallons every time it lands anywhere...
