I wasn't thinking about the multi line penny machines when I asked. That does at least make it conceivable you could get 7* status playing pennies.

However, even with Caesars recently decimated pay tables, you can do better with higher denomination video poker. It's possible to get $5 machines that only hold 2-3%, so even with the 2:1 reduction in points for VP, it should cost you less on average to qualify than on penny machines (or even 25c, or $1, albeit with even worse pay tables). Back when Caesars (Harrahs) clubs had some cash-back, and 99% pay tables, it was feasible to get 7* in 12 months on $5 VP machines. Sadly, those opportunities are about gone. Maybe Rincon, but I haven't checked it out in a year or so.

Then there is Chairman level. I hear there is only one player qualified for that: TerryW, who was sued last year by Caesars and counter-sued regaring his 14 million in losses. However, I suspect he had to give back his Chairman card .
