I don't know what the "sentiment of the collecting hobby" is. I do know what book I carry and turn to first to check the value of a chip. It ain't that picture book. Hell, in that book, the only chips you can be sure which chip you're looking up are the ones pictured. There isn't enough detail in the text to identify squat.
You know what's wrong with the Rack? It looks like you give more creedence to CW's prices than real sales. They say a chip ain't worth squat, next Rack you say it ain't worth squat. They say's James' chips have doubled in value. Next rack you've doubled their value rating. I'd rather you went back to putting out your own guide and base your values on real sales like you did before that "other" book came along.
That's the book that says, "The Reno chip market is like a corpse on a moonlit night surrounded by a chanting ring of Voodoo-worshippers. They want the corpse to rise, but there's no logical reason for it to do so. Reno has an unfortunate lack of classic attractive inlaid chips. Most of the old Reno casinos used hot stamps and the area itself is not very exciting." I don't know what their goals are, but it damn sure ain't objective value representation.
